Don’t Suppress the Flame. Watch It Burn

For the longest time, I believed that spirituality meant suppressing desires.
To be pure, I thought, I had to say no.
No to temptations.
No to cravings.
No to the thousand little longings that danced through my heart like sparks.

But here’s the truth that life whispered to me slowly, painfully, lovingly:

Suppression is not freedom.
It is only postponement.

The more you suppress, the more it hides — not in the mind, but deeper… in the subconscious.
You may think you’ve controlled it, mastered it, buried it.
But it grows roots where you can’t see.
And one day, it shows up — in your moods, your reactions, your restlessness, your sadness — and you won’t even know why.

This is why suppression is dangerous.

When a desire arises, see it.
Don’t panic. Don’t judge.
Just… witness.

If the desire is too strong, fulfill it — but do it consciously.
Taste it. Experience it fully, like a scientist observing a reaction.
Then slowly… with full awareness… pull the brakes.

Now — ask yourself:

“Did this actually fulfill me?
Or was it just a passing wave?”

That very questioning is like a light inside you.

And the beautiful part?
Once you truly see the desire for what it is — it drops on its own.
No force.
No guilt.
No punishment.

Just… release.

Desires are not the enemy.
Unawareness is.

And this doesn’t apply only to things like alcohol, sex, food, or success.
It applies to expression too.

For almost a decade, I was quiet.
I mean really silent. Holding everything in.
Thoughts, emotions, pain, joy — it all lived inside me like unspoken weather.
And then… one day, I started talking.
A lot.
And honestly? A lot of it was nonsense 😂

But I had to talk.
I had to let it out.
Because only through expression… was I able to breathe again.
It was my healing. My way of freeing the clutter inside.

So if I could tell you only one thing, it would be this:

Please, please talk.
Not because it will make you feel better in the moment.
But because it will free you.

Let it all come out — the good, the confusing, the messy, the raw.
Speak. Express.
Let the words run wild.
And then sit in the calm after the storm.

That’s when healing begins.

So don’t suppress the flame.
Watch it burn.
Let it teach you what it came to teach.
Then bow, and let it go.

That’s how the loop ends.
Not with war, but with wisdom.
